bros&hoes #1 : 3rd annual christmas party

we've been friends for more than a decade now. The only thing thats changed from highschool was that we've switched our usual cafeteria table to a dining table. And instead of sharing eachothers snacks from the lunches mom made us we now cook our own four course meals.

 Its defintely nice to look around and see that people have grown up and yet still stayed the same. LOVE YOU GUYS!

My first boyfriend blazer? about 8 years ago. it was grade 11 and we had a retro 80s theme for dance so i wore a hot pink v-neck, black pleated skirt, hot pink tights and of course my moms old black blazer. Not really 80s but i tried. I remember always wanting a shorter, more fitted blazer but I wasn't working and my parents taught me the value of money (aka i was far from spoiled) so my moms hand-me-downs had to do. I had to alter it a bit to make it wearable in 2004, being 17 with shoulder pads just wasn't cool. Even though it didn't really fit me right i still loved it and sometimes i wish i still had it.

I bought my own bf blazer when they started to come back 2 years ago at aritzia and I've used it so much that the inside is now getting worn out but instead of replacing it with another black one I've bought different colours instead.

When the whole androgynous style goes out ill hopefully keep these. And some day (not near BTW) my future daughter will end up rummaging through my closet for something to wear, find these jackets and get some more use out of them

.... or ask "wth mom why would you wear this? its ugly"
and that's when ill sweetly reply , " go buy your own shit and stop going through mine"

Anyone ready for winter yet? I don't think I'll ever be ready for winter this year, the cold and i don't mix very well.

Does anyone else hate Christmas shopping as much as i do? Crowds are ridiculous, when you need help theres no one and when you don't they're all over you, and trying to figure out the perfect gift for one person is hard enough but for 9 people .. I'm surprised that i haven't resorted to gift cards yet. So far I'm 1.5/9 done and I've been to the mall 3 times now :s. But after all the stress and tears, when Christmas rolls along it'll all be worth it to see the look on their face. So goodluck to all of you and i hope you dont get trampled by any angry, bitter shoppers...... like myself. =)

I'm back people =)
this past weekend we decided to bring out the 16 year old girl in all of us. We baked, shopped and had a sleepover. This is very out of the norm for us because from what i recall the only time we stayed over at each others house was due to too much alcohol.






it was Brooklyns job to decorate the cupcakes ... note to self when getting a 3 year old to add the icing and sugar be prepared to have diabetes after eating them

The next step

With a new job ive been killing myself to make good first impressions. Once i find my groove it'll defintely be more comfortable but until then ill be taking a short break. =) today my boyfriend and i went to go visit our new home. The next step is all so scary and exciting at the same time but im just glad we have something to call ours and knowing that we both worked our asses off for what we wanted has really humbled us. Its nice to know that all that stress and tears something good came out of it. No more parents cooking us dinner or bailing us out. We're on our own now and as frightening as that is, im damm proud to be standing on my own two feet knowing that i got to where i was because i worked for it. -love kat

label whore

As much as i love buying expensive things, they dont define me. Besides combining more than one print is tacky to me it just says " hey look at me i can afford all of this and i decided to wear it all at once". Although i must admit when i was younger i fell victim to being a label whore and looking at old pictures i had to look away in disgust.
One time i saw this girl who decided to wear her louis graffiti monogram speedy, loubs and a christian audiger shirt with shorts *finger in throat making gagging noises*. Yes your things are nice (minus the CA shirt) but must you wear them all together?

okay im not saying if you're wearing a chanel bag all your accessories should be chanel. Just dont wear your louis vuitton monogram bag with your burberry scarf and a gucci belt thats all. But if you do keep at most one item that stands out and the others subtle or you'll just hurt my eyes =)

my carrie necklace

thanks to my lovely boyfriend (and my sneaky brother for telling him) i finally got my name in white gold =) Ive never been much of a gold/diamond/silver or whatever precious stone kind of person, id rather stick to costume jewelery and save the money for other stuff. But this i love and was definitely surprised, he told me that he has something that wont be in time for my birthday, but it was definitely worth the wait.

i can see again!

If you remember i told you that i broke my glasses a few weeks ago therefore i was sporting the harry potter look for a couple of days. As much as i love harry potter i dont think i want to look like him. So i finally got these to replace my other chanel glasses. I love the case it came with, add a chain it'll probably look like a really cute wristlet huh?

Done and done

birthday was a total success other than the fact that i had to leave at 1 am because i was no longer coherent or standing for that matter. Thank goodness my brothers and my bf were there to help escort me out, leaving is one of the things i don't remember that night. Im actually pretty good at holding down my liquor for my birthday celebrations after what happened on my 19th ( dont ask just know that at the end of the night my lovely friends decided to draw obscene images on my face with eyeliner) but i guess all good things come to an end because i woke up the next day with a huge hangover and completely embarrassed.

birthdays: love em or hate em

what can i say i have a love/hate relationship with birthdays. Sure who doesn't love celebrating the day you were born but if the day is less than perfect doesn't it seem like the day is ruined? or is that just little ol bratty me?


Well whatever it is its stressing me out to the point where i just want to get it over with. Anyways aside from my total emo rant I'm in the midst of finding the perfect outfit for the day. At least if the day goes to shit ill at least look good.

hello new decade

How was everyones new year? while i spent nye with my family (which i haven't done in 7 years btw.) I spent the first few days in banff with my bf and then joined by a few friends. Summary of that weekend? lets see... :

• ate at Giorgio's, where we luckily sat upstairs in a private booth by a window, if any of you decide to stop by suggest to be seated upstairs, it has a cozyimathome kinda feel to it
• walked around banff ave where we purchased weird candy like , beef flavored mints and bear droppings.
• ate at grizzlys, i absolutely love their food, if you like fondue go! but the portions are small we ended up eating at our hotel after where they had the most amazing appetizer, truffle fries! shoestring fries drizzled with white truffle oil, parmigiano-reggiano cheese and duck fat gravy. I'm kinda drooling thinking about it (btw with dr loosen wine that all cost 20 with tip so if you're craving for a snack go to Banff Park Lodge)
• Amy taught me a few things about using my SLR ... I'm still a little confused but ill get the hang of it .. one day
• i finally took my first ever designer bag out of deadstock , my bf was happy i put his first christmas gift to me to use
• and i broke my glasses which i had to resort to good ol tape, i look ridiculously stupid right now but i booked an appt asap so it wont be long ( if you're wondering why i don't have backup glasses or contacts, ONE i haven't got my eyes checked in 3 years due to laziness and TWO contacts and i don't agree with each other)

so i hope all of you have an amazing 2011 and actually complete all of your new years resolutions =)
